Dear Parents,
As the principal of Charles D. Wyche, Jr, I want to welcome you to our school. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with the highly qualified and dedicated staff, the wonderful students, and the supportive parents. You have made a great choice in entrusting your child to us! This year we are going to continue to strive to increase student proficiency in reading, math, and science.
Previously, I was the Assistant Principal at Charles D. Wyche, Jr for seven years. While here we implemented the Italian program and the Autism units. I am thrilled at the opportunity to return and to get to know all of you and to engage in the educational process together. The elementary years are critical times of development for students and families alike, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful. I am a lifelong educator who brings a firm commitment to students and families as well as a love of learning and problem solving.
Our staff is committed to working with students and their families as a team. The rigorous curriculum is directly aligned to the Florida Standards. To help each child achieve to his/her fullest potential, the school provides both enrichment and intervention opportunities for students.
To ensure the safety and security of our students and to provide for the proper supervision of students, we will be adjusting to our morning arrival and dismissal procedures. We will be restricting the number of visitors into the building. Students are always under direct supervision of school personnel. The procedures will also ensure that the only adults that enter the building and have access to students are authorized staff members. All visitors must report to the main office. These procedures will ensure that we are following the CDC’s guidelines.
Finally, research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education benefits the child. Increased parental involvement yields higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility. I urge you to take part as much as possible in the life of our school. It does take an entire village to raise a child. Your assistance as a volunteer would be extremely valuable to our students. Consider becoming a school volunteer. There are many areas where your help would be appreciated.
We welcome all our families back to another exciting and challenging year!
